Hams, Hams, Hams and Shoulders laid out and salted ready for packing in the meat box in salt for three weeks. The meat had to be laid in a certain manner so that it wouldn't spoil.
Many families had a certain salt they used, and would travel for miles to get it if it wasn't available in the area.
